A Welcoming Neighbourhood

Hunu Hills are situated in the Mytton Heights basin, which covers about 40 ha and currently contains over 40 families.

We’re a varied lot, including young families, retirees, some work from home, some commute to Nelson, some settled here to be part of the ecovillage project that originated 20 years ago, some Kiwis, some expats, and some folks just like the open spaces and scenery.

It’s a friendly neighbourhood, with opportunities for connecting with neighbours to the extent you wish.

Some examples:

·       A Sharing Shed for exchanging various items from books and seedlings to fresh fruit and other items

·       A 10 ha Commons area owned by a neighbour-run Incorporated Society with a heritage orchard and open to membership

·       Monthly Community Pot Luck Dinners to catch up with neighbours and enjoy some good food

·       A Community Pond to enjoy

·       Neighbourhood Disaster Management Plan to support each other
